The Decorah defense did its job Tuesday night as the Viking boys basketball team (7-6, 3-4 NEIC) took care of Oelwein (1-10, 0-5 NEIC), 64-39.
"Overall, we did some nice things in the contest. We need to keep demanding focus on both ends of the floor for a full 32 minutes," said Coach Jonathan Carlson. "We are making progress. We just need to continue to improve a little each day."
Decorah trailed just once Tuesday night when Oelwein scored the first points of the game. After Decorah tied the game, they went ahead for good, taking a 12-7 lead after the first quarter. The Viking defense held the Huskies to just five points in the second quarter, with the offense exploding for 22 to lead 34-12 at halftime.
