Decorah gets big edge in the fourth quarter to defeat Turkey Valley 63-41

A big fourth quarter by the Decorah boys basketball team (2-1, 1-0 NEIC) put the game away Thursday night in Decorah as the Vikes defeated Turkey Valley (1-2, 1-1 UIC) 63-46.

What had been a five-point game ballooned in the final eight minutes as the Vikes outscored the Trojans by 12 points.
Decorah's Jacob Drost started Thursday night's game firing, scoring the team's first five points. The Trojans got on the board when Jacob Hackman hit a three. The score was tied when Ryan Busta hit a shot. Decorah scored the next five points on a Patrick Larson three and two free throws by Josey Jewell.
Back-to-back Trojan baskets tied the game at 10. Following a three by Decorah's Josh Miller and two by Patrick Winter, the Trojans scored the final two baskets of the quarter to make it 15-14 Decorah after one.
In the second, the Trojans took the lead 18-15 when Riley Buchheit hit back-to-back shots. However, the Vikings responded, with a three-point play by Drost, a three by Larson and two more by Drost. A three by TV's Nic Schaufenbuel made it 23-21 Decorah. Decorah built the lead to 29-24 before the Trojans came back, with a bucket by Ry. Busta and a free throw by Tristan Mohlis. A basket by Drost made it 31-27 Decorah at the half.
