With two non-conference games on the slate, the Decorah girls basketball team (1-3, 0-0 NEIC) fell twice to end the week.

They fell to MFL 43-61 Thursday and to Prairie du Chien, Wis. 21-32 Saturday.

With MFL in town Thursday, the Vikes struggled to hold the talented Bulldogs. They started the game by keeping it close, with the score 13-10 MFL at the end of the first. Moving into the second, the Bulldogs began to pull away, going up by as many as eight at 14-22 early in the frame. They extended that lead to nine at the half at 31-22.

That lead blossomed in the third, at 32-49.

The Vikes were led by Taylor Schuring, who scored 17 points, along with nine rebounds, four steals and three assists. Maria Hoyme came off the bench to add seven points. Sondra Zidlicky had six points and 11 rebounds, to go with three blocks.
