Changing it up; swimmers tackle new events

Getting a chance to get some new swimmers competing in different events, the Decorah boys swim team had a great night in the water Tuesday night at Vinton-Shellsburg.

Decorah picked up 74 points, defeating the host team, who had 19.
Decorah took first in every event. The Vikes started the 160-yard medley relay strong, with Mason McMillan, Trevor Massman, Rjis Nesset and J.D. Prentice taking the title in 1:35.03.
From there, the Vikes won six straight individual events. Sam Poppen was the champion in the 200-yard freestyle in 2:15.31. That was followed with Matt Schissel winning the 160-yard IM in 1:58.28. Freshman Matt Appler won the 60-yard freestyle in 32.86 seconds.
