Thursday the Vikings traveled to Dubuque to take on Dubuque Senior. It was an easy victory for the Viking netters, winning 7-2.

In singles, No. 3 T.J. Misseldine knocked off Johnny Dohner 6-1, 7-5. At the No. 4 spot, Caleb Ulring defeated Ben Krieg 6-0, 6-2. Winning 6-0, 6-1 was No. 5 singles Brett LaRue. Rounding out the victories was No. 6 C.J. Cliff, defeating Kyle Haber 6-0, 6-1.

For the pairs, No. 1 Lucas Hunter and Misseldine won 6-1, 7-6(11-9). Ryan Hageman and Ulring won at No. 2 6-1, 6-2. Karl Sand and LaRue combined to win 6-0, 6-1 at the No. 3 spot.

Of note, Hageman, a sophomore playing at the No. 1 singles position, lost his first career varsity match.

"It was nice to finally have good weather for a match," said Coach Reg Laursen. "Ryan suffered his first defeat as a varsity singles player. It is a little different playing in the No. 1 slot. Gus Zuccaro overpowered him with extreme top-spin shots, a learning experience. Lucas Hunter put up a valiant effort hitting great shots in spurts. He will be dangerous if he can develop greater consistency."
