Two local softball players have been recognized by the Iowa Girls Softball Coaches Association.
Turkey Valley junior Johanna Blazek and South Winn junior Brittany Shindelar were named to the Northeast All-District teams in Class 1A and Class 2A, respectively.
Blazek, the center fielder for the Trojans, came back from an injury to play in 25 games and start in 24. She led the team in batting average with a .380 mark, along with a .443 on-base percentage and a .521 slugging average. In 71 at-bats, she had 27 hits, with 21 runs scored, four doubles, two home runs and 20 RBI.
Shindelar, a pitcher, was second on the team with a .427 batting average. She had a .491 on-base percentage and a.699 slugging mark. She scored 17 runs, with six doubles and a team-high six home runs. She also drove in 38. On the mound, she was 7-12 with a 3.70 ERA.
