It's always a good battle when Decorah and South Winn face each other in a girls basketball tilt.

Thursday's game proved no different, with the Vikings (4-16) defeating South Winn (12-7) 50-48 in Decorah.

Defense ruled to start the game, with both teams scoring eight points in the first quarter. The Warriors took a 13-10 lead early in the second; however, the Vikings answered every punch thrown, going up 19-17 with three minutes remaining. Decorah led by as many as seven at 26-19 and took a 26-20 lead at the half.

South Winn ramped up its defensive effort in the third quarter, allowing the Vikings to score just six points in eight minutes. That allowed the Warriors to take a 33-32 lead with eight minutes to go.
