Everything was clicking Tuesday nigh for the Decorah softball team (4-10) as the Vikings defeated Turkey Valley (7-7) 5-0 in Jackson Junction.
The Vikings didn’t waste any time, getting a run across home plate in the first inning. They added another in the third and made it 3-0 in the fourth. They added two insurance runs in the seventh.
Decorah pounded the ball for 10 hits and took advantage of four walks and four stolen bases. Jenna Iverson was the only Viking with multiple hits. She had two singles and drove in a run. Becca Alcock, Kassie Hoyme and Chelsey Twait all had doubles. With singles were Payton Hjerleid, Maddy Ihde, Tess Olinger and Shelby Stalberger. Stalberger also stole two bases.
Elle Shelton picked up the win. She went six innings, giving up three hits. Annika Vande Krol closed the game with a perfect seventh inning.
