It seemed only fitting for the season that the Class 2A regional golf meet Monday was played with dark skies and rain.
However, the South Winn girls golf team knew how to deal with the weather conditions, shooting a 386 to continue its season.
Playing 18 holes at Guttenberg Golf and Country Club, the Warriors finished second in team standings to advance to the regional finals for the second straight year.
Also advancing was Nashua-Plainfield, which won the day with a 376. Sumner-Fredericksburg was a close third, carding a 390. Only the top-two-teams advance.
In addition, the top-five individuals also qualify to continue their season. Sarah McMichael from Nashua-Plainfield was the medalist Monday. She carved out an 81 to lead the way. Maya Marshall from Sumner-Fred was the runner-up with an 86. Also individually continuing were Ashley Larson, Sumner-Fred, 89; Kate Coyle, Cascade, 90; Jamie Baldwin, Nashua-Plainfield, 94; and Kayla Dietz, Nashua-Plainfield, 94.
