A good place to start; Vikings take second

It was a cold day to start the season for the Decorah boys golf team as it hosted six other teams at the Decorah Viking Invite at Oneota Golf and Country Club Thursday.

Lakeville South (Minn.) won the meet by firing a 300, 12-over par. Decorah claimed second with a 307. Owatonna was third with a 321.
Noah Rasinski of Lakeville South was the individual medalist. He shot a 70, a two-under par, to win the meet. Decorah senior Bryce Pierce was the runner-up. Pierce carded a 71.
Reese Drenth and Sam Sacquitne tied for fifth by both carving out a 77. Matt Schissel toured the course with an 82, good for 13th. Derek Weis finished with an 85, tying for 20th. Reid Drenth completed the Viking varsity six. The junior shot a 94, taking 37th.
