For the first time since 2009, the Decorah boys tennis team defeated Onalaska 5-2 Tuesday night.
Because they played in Wisconsin, they used Wisconsin rules, which is four singles matches and three doubles, with no one playing both singles and doubles.
In singles, No. 2 Ryan Hageman, No. 3 Brett LaRue and No. 4 Shaun Dehning all grabbed victories. Doubles wins were garnered by No. 1 C.J. Cliff and Gable Lonning and No. 2 T.J. Misseldine and Karl Sand.
“The most dominating performances of the afternoon were put in by Brett LaRue, who employed the ‘punisher’ strategy, and T.J. Misseldine / Karl Sand, who got down 1-2 and then won 11 of the next 13 games,” said Coach Reg Laursen.
