It was another "WOW, FUN, WOW" day on the courts for the Decorah boys tennis team Thursday as the Vikes won their first district title since 2007, qualifying three individuals for the state singles and doubles tournament.
In addition, the Vikes advanced to the team substate. They will face Dubuque Wahlert Saturday, May 18, at 9 a.m. at Dubuque Wahlert. The winner will face the winner of Cedar Rapids Xavier and Catholic Columbus in the afternoon May 18.
"I could not have been prouder of the effort put forth by the DHS tennis team members today," said Coach Reg Laursen.
It was a day of solid play all-around Thursday in Waterloo as the Vikes competed in the individual state tournament.
It was a day to remember as the Vikes won the district title, posting 28 points. It's the first district crown since 2007.
Second went to host Waterloo Columbus with 22. Rounding out the team scores were Oelwein, 9; Waverly-Shell Rock, 6; Union, 5; Grundy Center, 3; and Dike-New Hartford, 2.
The win allowed Decorah to advance to the substate round.
