Two Luther athletes were recognized by the Iowa Athletic Conference this week.

Peter Wright was named the performer of the week for defense for men's soccer, and Cassandra Chalhoub was named the women's tennis honoree.

Wright, a sophomore goalkeeper from West St. Paul, Minn., gave up just one goal in 245 minutes in net last week, helping Luther remain undefeated with his first career shutout in a 2-0 victory over No. 14 St. Olaf Sept. 5. He also shared another shutout in a 2-0 win over Macalester Sept. 9.

Wright, who has started all five of Luther's matches, has allowed two goals in 400 minutes of play en route to a goals-against-average of 0.45.

Chalhoub, a senior from Hiawatha, went 4-0 during the week, with two wins each at No. 1 singles and at No. 1 doubles with partner Lola White-Baer. In singles play, she battled back to defeat Jamie Hoffman of the College of Saint Benedict in a match tie-breaker after dropping the first set. Chalhoub helped Luther improve to 4-0 overall while raising her individual records to 3-1 in both singles and doubles.
