Two Luther College athletes were named athletes of the week by the Iowa Athletic Conference.

Erin Wilson was named the women's soccer defensive player while Tricia Serres was named the women's cross country athlete of the week.

Wilson, a junior defender from North Liberty, anchored a defensive line that allowed just three shots on goal in two matches. She also scored the game-winning goal against Dubuque on a header off a corner kick. She is the daughter of Jeff and Linda Wilson.

Serres, a sophomore from North Liberty, won the individual title at the Wisconsin-Eau Claire Blugold Invitational Oct. 5. She crossed the finish line in 21:47.5 to best the field of 424 runners by 11 seconds. It was Serres' second individual title of the year. Luther took ninth in the 25-team field with 237 points. She is the daughter of Rob and Heidi Serres.
