Two members of the Luther swimming team were named athletes of the week by the Iowa Athletic Conference.
Tim Cutler, a senior from Chippewa Falls, Wis., was named the men's athlete while Samantha Kuipers, a freshman from Muskegon, Mich., was named the female athlete.
Culter helped lead Luther to a 184-98 win over Wisconsin-River Falls. He won the 100 breaststroke (1:03.27) and 100 IM (57.46) and swam the anchor leg on a Luther 200 freestyle relay that clocked the second-best time (1:33.10) but went unscored. The time was faster than both scored times by River Falls. Cutler is the son of Bob and Pam.
Kuipers won the first two individual events of her collegiate career, taking the 50 breaststroke (32.29) and 100 breaststroke (1:10.31) in Luther's 196-91 dual victory over Wisconsin-River Falls. She also swam the second leg of a runner-up 200 medley relay squad (1:56.17) that finished behind another Luther foursome. Kuipers is the daughter of Keith and Kelli.
