Norse soccer advances to semifinals

The Luther men's soccer team (14-5-0) advanced to the semifinals of the Iowa Conference Tournament by defeating Central (9-9-1) 1-0 Saturday in Decorah.
Decorah's Martin Stalberger scored the game-winner on a header assisted by Logan Martell at 22:02. The goal was the third of the season for Stalberger and his second in as many games.
Goalkeeper Tommy Breen, who was credited with five saves for the afternoon, stopped two Central penalty kicks. The first was at 46:13, and the second was at 87:18.
Luther travels to Wartburg College for a semifinal match Wednesday, Nov. 6. This match will begin at 7 p.m. The winner will advance to the championship match Saturday, Nov. 9. The higher seed of the semifinal winners will host the championship match. The other semifinal will also take place Nov. 6 with Simpson playing at Loras.
