For the fourth time in as many seasons, the Luther College softball coaching staff has been named the Midwest Region Coaching Staff of the Year by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA).
Luther completed the 2013 campaign with a record of 33-11, was crowned the NCAA III UW-Whitewater Regional Champions and advanced to the NCAA III Championship Tournament for a fourth consecutive year, finishing the eight-team double elimination tournament tied for fifth place. The Norse qualified for the national tournament capturing the Iowa Conference Tournament title for the third time in the past four years. Luther finished the 2013 campaign ranked No. 6 in the NFCA Top-25 national poll.
The Norse are led by Head Coach Renae Hartl, pitching coach Tracy Hjelle and assistant coaches Teri Olson and Erika Randall.
Hartl just completed her 12th season and has compiled a record of 363-147 for a winning percentage of .712.
