Two Luther cross country runners were recognized as being athletes of the week by the Iowa Athletic Conference.

Jackson Espeset and Lauren Mordini were honored.

Espeset, a freshman from Ames, finished second in a field of 33 runners and led the Norse to a 23-34 victory over UW-La Crosse in the 57th annual duel between the two programs. He completed the four-mile course at Luther College in 21:22.8 and was 14 seconds back of La Crosse's Carlton Folster. He is the son of Mike and Ann Espeset of Ames.

Morini, a freshman from Wheaton, Ill., won the individual title at the Luther--UW-La Crosse duel by 16.5 seconds over teammate Lauren Stokke. She completed the four-kilometer course in 15:20.3 as the Norse posted an 18-42 victory over the Eagles. She is the daughter of Joe and Melody Mordini of Wheaton, Ill.
