The roof of a house collapsed on top of a man and his 3-year-old daughter at a Frankville residence Friday afternoon.

The Decorah Law Enforcement Center received a 911 call at about 1:10 p.m. The father was able to free himself and his daughter from the debris before rescuers arrived. It is believed a buildup up of snow and ice caused the roof to collapse.

The 3-year-old was transported by Winneshiek County Ambulance to Winneshiek Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. The Frankville Fire Department was assisted by the Frankville First Responders, Castalia First Responders, Decorah Fire Department, Iowa Department of Transportation enforcement, Winneshiek County Ambulance and the Winneshiek County Sheriff’s Department.
