The film "Zero Dark Thirty," now showing in theaters around the country, has received both acclaim and criticism.
Its director describes the film as fiction and art, but especially because it depicts actual events, it raises questions for many viewers; for example:
Does graphic portrayal of torture inform and arouse concern, or does it simply model inhumane behavior?
Does torture produce positive results?
Is extra-judicial killing necessary, legal, moral?
The Senate Intelligence Committee in a bipartisan vote approved a 6,000-page report on a three-year investigation into the CIA torture program this past December.
