Dear Editor:

We applaud the Decorah Council's decision to continue pledging their allegiance to our nation and the guiding principals for which it stands. If any member is "uncomfortable" proudly pledging their allegiance to our nation and the principle of "Liberty and Justice for all," then we would have to wonder why we have them elected to sit on one of our governing bodies.

Concern for the Earth and our environment is certainly important but does not; and should not replace our concern for "Liberty and Justice" as the Council deliberates rules and ordinances affecting the lives of the citizens of Decorah.

Also, the United States were formed as "One Nation under God" so we believe it would be appropriate to close each meeting with our Lords' Prayer.
