She attended rural country schools in the Decorah area and graduated from Decorah High School in 1952. She married Walter Frederick Zimmerman June 15, 1952, at the Methodist Church in Decorah. Sally was later baptized at Zion United Church of Christ in Waukon. Her greatest joy was working with her husband of "nearly 50 years" with his career and raising their four sons. Sally was a member of Zion United Church of Christ where she was very active in its ladies' circles. She was a volunteer at the Good Samaritan Center where she also served on the advisory board for several years. Sally also was a member of the Red Hat Society and was very active with Trees Forever. She enjoyed playing cards, going to the boat, shopping, cooking, baking -- especially bread -- and boating on the Mississippi River. Her favorite times were spending time with her family and friends.
