Regina "Regi" Klimesh, 89, of Calmar, died Friday, Oct. 25, 2013, at the Winneshiek Medical Center in Decorah. Mass of Christian Burial is at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Calmar, with Rev. Donald Hawes officiating. Organist is Jeanette Dietzenbach. Cantor is Dan Silhacek. The St. Aloysius Choir sings "Closer Walk With Thee," "The Prayer of St. Francis," "Be Not Afraid," "Going Home" and "How Great Thou Art." Mass servers are Alicia Klimesh and Ben Sheridan. Lectors are Shayna Stellflue, Andy Klimesh and Ruth Bily. Eucharistic ministers are John Stellflue and Connie Klimesh. Giftbearers are Regi's grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Urnbearer is Timothy Stellflue. Interment is at St. Aloysius Catholic Cemetery, Calmar. Arrangements are being handled by Schluter - Balik Funeral Home, French Chapel, Calmar.
Regina Mathilda Bily Klimesh was born Sept. 28, 1924, the daughter of Joseph and Mathilda (Taylor) Bily, on the farm home a quarter mile west of Spillville. She was the oldest of four children with brothers: Fred, Stan and Robert. Regi attended St. Wenceslaus Catholic School and two years of high school in Spillville, finishing the other years and graduating from Calmar High School. During World War II, she worked on the assembly line of Nesco, in Milwaukee, making casings for 15-millimeter shells. She married Godfrey Klimesh in Spillville April 23, 1946. To this union four children were born: William, Robert, Patricia and David. In 1965, she went to work for Klimesh Motor Sales as a bookkeeper for 24 years. She retired in 1990. In her earlier years she was active in the American Legion Auxiliary, Decorah Deanery Council of Catholic Women, St. Aloysius Catholic Church and the Rosary Society. She also was a den mother for the Cub Scouts. Over the years, Regi made and gave away her delicious toffee and was always willing to pray the rosary for all.
Regi's survivors include her daughter, Patricia (John) Stellflue, La Crosse Wis.; three sons: William Klimesh, Calmar, Robert (Connie) Klimesh, Calmar and David (Becky) Klimesh, Waucoma; eight grand-children: Timothy (Susan) Stellflue, Shayna Stellflue, Andrew Klimesh, Kelsey (Edward) Allendes, Allison and RaeAnn Klimesh, Alicia and Maria Klimesh; two great-grandchildren, Presley and Easton Stellflue; two brothers, Fritz (Lorraine) Bily, Omaha, Neb. and Robert (Ruth) Bily, Spillville; one brother-in-law, Cyril Klimesh, Grants Pass, Ore.
Regi was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph (Mathilda) Bily; her husband, Godfrey, 1995; two brothers, Donnie Bily in infancy and Stanley (Eileen) Bily; brother and sisters-in-law: Robert (Arzella) Klimesh, Charles (Anna) Klimesh, Otilia (Mark) Walsh, Sidonia (Alvin) Klimesh, Celestine (Helen) Klimesh, Emil (Marcella) Klimesh and Irene Klimesh.
