JOHN SCHNITZLER, 91, of Decorah, died Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013, at the Aase Haugen Nursing Home in Decorah. Funeral services are at 11 a.m., Friday, Jan. 25, 2013, at the Burr Oak Lutheran Church, 2358 - 360th Street, Decorah, with Rev. Matt Larson presiding. Burial is in the Burr Oak Cemetery, Burr Oak. Friends may call from 3-7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 24, at the Schluter - Balik Funeral Home, 604 South Avenue in Decorah, and also after 10 a.m., at the church Friday morning. John is survived by his wife, Evelyn Schnitzler, Decorah; one daughter, Jan Schnitzler, Decorah; three sons: John D. (Roxanne) Schnitzler, Decorah; Jim (Judy) Schnitzler, Decorah; and Joel (Jeanne) Schnitzler, Dell, Mont.; seven granddaughters: Christina (Bryan) Beaver, Jessica (Eric) Rediske, Sarah (Chad) Smith, Holly Schnitzler, Jayme (Kyle) Tash, Peggy (fiancé, Andy Miller) Schnitzler and Jenna Schnitzler; one grandson, John P. (Elyse) Schnitzler; nine great-grandchildren: Shayla, Kayleigh, Bentley and Allysen Smith, Natalie and Colton Beaver, Elora and John Toby Schnitzler and Bailey Miculinich; four sisters: Margaret (friend, Frank Klemm) Kamp, Marion; Joyce Mailey, Cedar Rapids; Edna Lou (Ted) Schrandt, Decorah; and Dorothy Kay (Ronald) Barth, Cedar Rapids; two brothers, Charles (Fran) Schnitzler, Burr Oak and Donald (Carol) Schnitzler, Decorah; sisters and brothers-in-law: Julie Marhoul, Decorah: Maxine Falck, Cresco; Norma (Louis) Albertson, Ridgeway; Alice Kurash, Spillville; Janice Broghammer, Decorah; and Linda (Galen) Huhe, Cresco; and Howard (Marlys) Falck, Chester; along with many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and -nephews. John was preceded in death by his parents, John and Edith (Hiller) Schnitzler; two brothers, Carl (Mabel) Schnitzler and Milton Schnitzler; his father and mother-in-law, Fred and Verna (Davis) Falck; brothers-in-law: Kenneth Faaberg, Louis Kamp, Vernon Falck, Stanley Kurash and John Broghammer; one niece, Becky Hauser.
