Grace Eileen Polansky (Lukas) passed away peacefully July 31, 2013, in Glendale, Ariz. A celebration of her life is Nov. 10, in San Diego, Calif., Greenwood Mortuary, next to her husband Bill.
Grace was born Dec. 30, 1927, in Ridgeway, the second daughter of Louis and Clara Lukas. She attended schools in Ridgeway and graduated from Rudolphinum Hign school in 1945 with honors and attended college in Upper Iowa University in Fayette, becoming a teacher in Ridgeway and Notre Dame School in Cresco. She married William (Bill) Polansky Sept. 4, 1948, and together they had two daughters, Sherry and Susan. They farmed in Spillville before moving to California for two years and relocated again in Cresco. Grace continued to teach and Bill did many jobs including owning a gas station, for which Grace did all of the accounting and business management. They relocated again in San Diego in 1971, and continued to work and live in La Jolla, Calif. Sadly, Bill passed away in Sept. of 1977. Grace relocated to Portland, Ore. to be near her daughter, Sherry Walton and son-in-law, Jon Walton. She loved Oregon very much; but after 16 years she decided to move to Glendale, Ariz. near her daughter, Susan Troller and grandchildren.
Grace is survived by her daughters, Sherry (Jon) Walton and Susan Troller; her sister, Jeanette Sandling, in Indio, Calif.; brother, Lester (Alice) of Calmar; and sister, LaVinia Rilling of La Mesa, Calif.; and many nieces and nephews.
Two grandchildren, Christie Troller and sons Aiden and Cash; Ryan Troller (Erica) and sons Conner and Carson.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Clara Lukas; and son-in-law, Steven Troller.
