Dorothy Rosenthal, 91, of Decorah, died Wednesday, July 16, 2014, at Wellington Place Nursing Home, in Decorah. Services were at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, July 19, 2014, First Lutheran Church, Decorah, with Rev. Melissa Bills officiating. Organist was Marcia Engebretson. Hymns were ”A Mighty Fortress,” “Beautiful Savior” and “How Great Thou Art.” Interment was at Lutheran Cemetery Decorah. Arrangements were handled by Schluter – Balik Funeral Home, Decorah. Casket bearers were Jim Bowes, Aaron Maslow, Fred Rosenthal and Paul Lanphier.

Dorothy Helen Rosenthal was born Nov. 17, 1922, in Decorah, the daughter of Constance “Connie” and Anna (Johnson) Rosenthal. Dorothy lived in Decorah her entire life. She graduated from Decorah Public Schools. Dorothy was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and every year was the leading poppy fund raiser. She was a lifetime member of First Lutheran Church in Decorah. Dorothy enjoyed knitting and embroidery work and was a blue ribbon winner at the Winneshiek County Fair. She will be remembered as a very generous and loving person and will be missed by all who knew her.

Dorothy is survived by her nieces and nephews: Connie Maslow, Fred Rosenthal, Jo Bowes, Mary Rosenthal, Kris Hansen, Solveig Root and Einer Hansen; along with all of her loving friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Connie and Anna (Johnson) Rosenthal; her sister, Kathleen Hansen; and her brothers, Frederick and Robert Rosenthal.
