Carol "Slim" Rothmeyer, 80, former resident of Calmar, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2013, in O'Fallon, Mo. Catholic and military services were held in Saint Charles, Mo. Tuesday, Oct. 8.

Carol was born in St. Lucas July 21, 1933. He was a running back on the 1950 Calmar Public High School's Cornhusker Conference Championship team. He also pitched for vaious baseball teams in Northeast Iowa and the Cedar Rapids area after graduating from Calmar High School in 1951. He served in the United States Air Force from 1952 to 1956, during the Korean War. After serving his country, he worked at Collins Radio Company in Cedar Rapids for many years before moving to O'Fallon, Mo., then to Charlotte, N.C. and retiring back to O'Fallon to be near his family.

Loving husband of the late Sandra Rothmeyer (nee: Beyers); beloved son of the late Clarence and Felicia Rothmeyer, devoted father of Debra (Paul) Nangle, Elsberry, Mo., Craig (Vickie) Rothmeyer and Diane Rothmeyer of Wentzville, Mo.; cherished grandfather of Michael Nangle, Timothy Nangle, Tami (Steven) Hessling, Kari Standerfer, Cameron Rothmeyer, Nicole Rothmeyer and Natalie Rothmeyer; treasured great-grandfather of Aubrey Hessling, Kayden Hessling and Elizabeth Standerfer, dear brother of Jerome (Barbara) Rothmeyer of Largo, Fla. and Margaret (Chuck) Cremer of Albuquerque, N.M. He also is survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
