Bonnie Kruse, 74, of St. Lucas, died Tuesday, July 8, 2014, at the Ossian Senior Hospice in Ossian. Mass of Christian Burial was at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 11, at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in St. Lucas, with Rev. Nick March officiating. Lector was Rita Kuehner. Organist was Kathy Meyer. St. Luke’s Choir sang “Be Not Afraid,” “Prayer of St. Francis,” “One Bread, One Body” and “How Great Thou Art.” Offertory gift bearers were Anthony and Gerald Kruse. Mass servers were Darlene Schwamman and Dennis Boyer. Eucharistic ministers were Barb Reicks, Rosemary Kriener, Sheila Reicks and Virginia Manderfield. Interment was at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in St. Lucas. Arrangements were handled by Schluter – Balik Funeral Home, Chekal Chapel, Fort Atkinson.

Bonnie (Bauers) Kruse was born May 26, 1940, the daughter of Harold and Myrel (Brandes) Bauers near Moscow, Minn. Bonnie attended school in Austin, Minn. Bonnie married Kenneth Kruse Sept 20, 1969, in Minnesota. They lived in St. Lucas and operated the Washland Convenience Store in St. Lucas for many years. Bonnie enjoyed going out to eat and watching TV. She was a member of St. Luke’s Catholic Church, St. Luke’s Choir and the Rosary Society. She entered the Ossian Senior Hospice Oct. 1, 2002.

Bonnie is survived by her sister, Betty Bales, Rochester, Minn.; one brother-in-law, Anthony Kruse and wife, Agnes, Fort Atkinson; nephews, Lenny Bales, Rochester, Minn. and Gerald Kruse, Fredericksburg; one great-nephew, Robert Kruse; one great niece, Destany Kruse.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Kruse, July 1, 1996; her father, Harold Bauers, Oct. 11, 1990; and her mother, Myrel Bauers, July 2, 2013; her father-in-law, Albert Kruse, July 1, 1979; and her mother-in-law, Albina Kruse, Nov. 27, 2002; brother, Richard Bauers; brother-in-law, Alvin Kruse, July 1, 2011.
