Beatrice “Bea” Glass Tinderholt, 88, of Fort Atkinson, died Thursday, Aug. 21, 2014, at Wellington Place Nursing Home in Decorah. Mass of Christian Burial is at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 26, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Fort Atkinson, with Rev. Nick March officiating. Mass servers are Ed Langreck and Jack Herold. Lector is Craig Hosting. Organist is Kristina Nienhaus. St. John’s Choir sings “Be Not Afraid,” “I am the Bread of Life,” “On Eagle’s Wings,” “You are Mine” and “How Great Thou Art.” Offertory gift bearers are Jeanne Schick, Dale Elsbernd and DiAnne Nienhaus. Eucharistic ministers are Craig Hosting, Danna and Jim Kriener. Casket bearers are all of Bea’s grandchildren: Dawn Schwebke, Casey McKone, Madison McKone, Daniel Lensing, Heather Lensing, Hannah Lensing, Samantha Glass, Jaimie Lea Glass, Alexandria Glass and Zackary Glass. Interment is at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in Fort Atkinson. Arrangements are being handled by Schluter – Balik Funeral Home, Chekal Chapel, Fort Atkinson.

Beatrice “Bea” Otilia (Krivacek) Glass Tinderholt was born Dec. 21, 1925, the daughter of William F. and Otilia (Martinek) Krivacek in Fort Atkinson. Bea attended St. John’s Catholic School and Fort Atkinson High School. She worked as a clerk at Huber’s Store and as a bookkeeper for Croatt Implement in Fort Atkinson. Bea attended college at Iowa State in Ames for bookkeeping. Bea married Paul R. Glass June 27, 1949, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Fort Atkinson. Bea also worked in the laundry department at Aase Haugen Nursing Home for several years, retiring in 1987. Bea married Albert Tinderholt May 6, 1994, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Waukon. She was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church, the Ladies Guild and the National Catholic Society of Foresters. Bea enjoyed knitting, crocheting, sewing and feeding and watching the birds, and above all, spending time with her grandchildren.  

Bea is survived by her five children: Richard (Brenda) Glass  Oelwein; Patti (Walt) Bielefeld, Decorah,; Connie (Jim) McKone, Fort Atkinson; Jackie (Ivan) Lensing, Fort Atkinson; and Robert Glass, Fort Atkinson; 10 grandchildren: Dawn (Doug) Schwebke, Casey (Jessica) McKone, Madison McKone, Daniel (fiancé Ashley Gaines) Lensing, Heather (fiancé Tyler Jepsen) Lensing, Hannah Lensing, Samantha Glass, Jaimie Lea Glass, Alexandria Glass and Zackary Glass; two great-grandchildren, Marcus (Sarah) Scigliano and Angel Jarnigen; two great-great-grandchildren, Lizzamarie and Aiden Scigliano; three sisters: Margaret (Serenus) Elsbernd, Fort Atkinson; Corina (Ronnie) Scholbrock, Hazel Green, Wis.; and Alice (Marvin) Phillips, Fort Atkinson; sister-in-law, Vi Krivacek, Fort Atkinson; as well as several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and -nephews.

Bea was preceded in death by her parents, William and Otilia (Martinek) Krivacek; her first husband, Paul Glass, Jan. 8, 1990; her second husband, Albert Tinderholt, Jan. 10, 2007; two brothers, Art (Christine) Krivachek and Sonny Krivacek; one nephew, Gary Krivachek.
