ARNOLD A. LUZUM, 95, of St. Lucas, passed away May 3, 2014, in the comfort of his home surrounded by his family. Mass of Christian Burial is at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, May 8, at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in St. Lucas, with Father Nick March presiding, and Father Marvin Salz concelebrating. Burial is in St. Luke’s Catholic Cemetery with military honors. Friends may call from 4-7 p.m., Wednesday, May 7, at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in St. Lucas. There is a rosary and scripture service at 3:30 p.m. There also is visitation Thursday morning from 9:30 -10:30 a.m. at the church. The Schluter – Balik Funeral Home in Decorah is in charge of arrangements. He is survived by his loving wife, Irma, of St. Lucas; 14 children: Diane (Jon) Korte of Albert Lea, Minn., Alleyn (Darla) Luzum of Bella Vista, Ariz., Norma Shank of Mesa, Ariz., Marvin Luzum of Santa Barbara, Calif., Marian (Charles) Burnett of Dakota Dunes, S.D., Barbara Ann (Theodore) Stortz of Edina, Minn., Sharon Kay (Dennis) Gidley of Algonquin, Ill., LaVonne (Charles) Ciorba of Portland, Ore., Arnold Luzum Jr. of St. Lucas, Kevin (Linda) Luzum of Fort Atkinson, Rosemary (Chris) Fritzke of Scottsdale, Ariz., Jolene (Ret. MSgt. J. Mitchell) Nauman of Norman, Okla., Karla (Lindsay) Erdman of Decorah and Renee (Joseph) Wisby of Nashville, Tenn.; 21 grandchildren: Bryan Korte, Jeff Luzum, Jenny (Luzum) Studer, Elizabeth (Shank) van den Berg, Theresa (Burnett) Hamer, Brad Burnett, Alison and Kathryn Stortz, Alex Ciorba, Tessa (Luzum) Nardelli, Tanna Luzum, Cynthia, Jacob, and Emily Luzum, Austin, Jack (Teo) and Aidan Fritzke, Jayme and Jerrod Nauman, Marley and Erika Wisby; step-grandchildren: Matt and Christopher Ciorba; 12 great-grandchildren; and five step great-grandchildren. Arnold also is survived by his brothers and sisters: Florence Hackman of Decorah, Vic Luzum of Decorah, Francis Luzum of Cedar Rapids, Joan (George) McCusker of Overland Park, Kan., Monica (Tony) Steinlage of Decorah, Bill (Jan) Luzum of Benson, Minn., James (Arlene) Luzum of Rosemont, Minn.; one sister-in-law, JoAnn Luzum, Calmar.
