On a 4-1 vote Monday, the Winneshiek County Board of Supervisors voted to dismantle the county's north building as requested by Wellington Place.

Supervisors John Logsdon, Floyd Ashbacher, Dennis Karlsbroten and Mark Kuhn voted in favor of the motion, which was made by Kuhn, while supervisor Dean Thompson voted against it.

Wellington Place is a county owned, privately managed care facility, which is attached to the north building, constructed in the 1880s, by an annex. Wellington Place officials asked for the building to be taken own because its sprinkler system, which is attached to Wellington Place, does not meet state fire code, in addition to other safety concerns.
