Darren Easley, 24, Preston, Minn., suffered a broken arm in a Friday motorcycle accident.
Easley was wearing a motorcycle helmet that probably saved his life, according to a Winneshiek County Sheriff’s deputy.
Easley was eastbound on county road A-18 following another motorcycle at about 6:15 p.m. An accident report stated Easely took a curve in the roadway too wide and entered the right shoulder. He lost traction on the gravel and entered the right ditch. Easley was ejected into the ditch.
Witnesses in a pickup truck traveling behind the motorcycles and the other motorcycle rider stopped and rendered medical aid to Easley before deputies, troopers, First Responders and the Winneshiek County ambulance arrived.
Easley was taken to Regional Health Services of Howard County for treatment. The Sheriff’s Department was assisted by the Iowa State Patrol, Winneshiek County First Responders and Winneshiek County ambulance.
