The Porter House Museum 2014 lecture series continues at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 13, with a talk by special guest speaker Dr. David Faldet.

Faldet will explore the Upper Iowa River as seen through a selection of A.F. Porter's photographs of the Decorah and Bluffton area from the early 20th century. Faldet is a professor of English at Luther College and the author of “Oneota Flow,” a natural-cultural history of Decorah’s Upper Iowa River and the Driftless region of Northeast Iowa.

Faldet’s presentation is the second in the Porter House Museum's new 2014 lecture series.

Elizabeth Lorentzen started the series in February with an “armchair tour” of Decorah's historic architecture.

The series concludes Thursday, March 27, with Emily Mineart, the museum's consulting curator/collections manager, who will give a presentation on historic scrapbooks. All talks are free and open to the public, and are held in the museum's historic music parlor.

Seating is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.

This event series has been sponsored by Peg Wright, Betty Nelson and David and Kathy Bakken.
