Those interested in banning rather than permitting frac sand mining will soon have an opportunity to learn how 160 US communities have banned similarly harmful activities using the Community Rights legal strategy, according to a statement released by the Community Rights Alliance of Winneshiek County.
"All are welcome to spend the weekend of March 7-9 learning more effective ways to protect our local community and the rest of the living world by exercising our inherent right to govern ourselves," the release stated.
The workshop, returning for the third time since May 2013, is led by Paul Cienfuegos in collaboration with the Community Environmental Legal Defense Fund. It is hosted by the Community Rights Alliance of Winneshiek County.
