Luther College invites everyone to spend an evening listening to joyous tones of the quintessentially Californian, genre-sliding band The Mowglis.

The Mowglis will perform at 8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 6, in the Center for Faith and Life Main Hall on the Luther College campus.

Formed by four childhood friends out of Los Angeles and three additional members from the Midwest, The Mowglis have their roots laid in classic acts such as Neil Young, The Beach Boys and Fleetwood Mac while evoking modern artists like Fun. and Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros.

With inspirations all over the map, The Mowglis create songs reminiscent of classic rock and protest ballads wrapped in the sound of modern indie rock and dance bands.

Their single, "San Francisco," charted on Billboard's Top 40 for alternative music in 2013.

Tickets are $15, available at the door the night of the show or at the Luther Ticket Office, telephone (563) 387-1357 or tickets.luther.edu. The Ticket Office is open Monday-Friday, 9-10:30 a.m. and 11 a.m.-3 p.m.; Tuesdays 9 a.m.-3 p.m. with extended hours Thursdays 9 a.m.-7 p.m.

The event is sponsored by the SAC Spotlight/Diversity committee.
