Jermier pleads guilty, sentencing Sept. 30

Jay Jermier has pleaded guilty to second-offense operating while intoxicated and homicide by vehicle in connection with a Sept. 28 2012 accident that resulted in the death of a Calmar woman.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, Jermier was northbound on his motorcycle two miles north of Calmar at about 4 p.m. when he crossed into the southbound lane, losing control. His passenger, Trish Taylor, 44, Calmar, was killed.
Jermier recently entered a written guilty plea and his sentencing was scheduled for 1:15 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 30, in Winneshiek County District Court.
According to court documents, Jermier was informed he could be sentenced to up to 10 years in prison on the homicide by vehicle charge, up to two years in prison on the OWI charge and could be ordered to pay $150,000 in victim restitution.
