A flash flood watch is in effect from late this afternoon through tonight for Northeast Iowa, including Winneshiek County, according to the National Weather Service.

Thunderstorms are expected to spread east later Friday afternoon through tonight. These thunderstorms are capable of produce heavy rains and the potential of flash flooding.

The flash flood watch continues into Saturday evening. Thunderstorm chances persist over most of the area Saturday and Saturday night. The main hazards from these storms are locally heavy rains and lightning.

A small thunderstorm chance remains across Northeast Iowa on Sunday. A chance of thunderstorms spreads across the entire area later Sunday night and Monday. Isolated thunderstorms are possible Thursday.

Severe weather is not anticipated from any of the Sunday, Monday or Thursday storms.
