Emerging artists’ exhibition at ArtHaus April 4

ArtHaus will host a free First Friday event April 4, from 7-9 p.m., at ArtHaus and the ArtHaus Studio (508 and 516 W. Water Street) sponsored by Rubaiyat Restaurant.
ArtHaus will the best artworks created by emerging artists of the Driftless region, who submitted their strongest artworks to this juried show.
Best in Show, Runner Up and Honorable Mention Awards will be announced at the event.
The work will remain on display in both spaces through April 25.
A committee of four jurors selected 29 of the 96 submitted artworks for this fourth annual exhibition at ArtHaus.
Created in 2011 to encourage emerging artists age 18-23 in the Driftless Region, the show received entries from Iowa, Minnesota and Wisconsin. This year student artists from eight colleges and universities in the region, as well as young artists working outside of school, submitted sculpture, painting, drawing, printmaking, photography, video and mixed media works.
Participating panelists were Sara Baskett, program/marketing director from Lanesboro Art Center; Dr. Don McComb, Professor of Graphic Design at Upper Iowa University; Mat Rude, Professor of Ceramics at University of Iowa; and Sarah Frydenlund, visual artist and D. Art Co. board president.
Featured artists include: Nicole Billips, Jessie Brewer, Ian Carstens, Jenna Darsee, Erin Gunelson, Jake Homstad, Lauren Matysik, Jenna Michel, Martha Orlet, Corrine Sawyer, Wanqi Sun, Kaitlyn Svestka, Emily Turco, Rose Weselmann, Jayne Cole, Samir Amir Kansakar, Hana Bachmann, Daniel Bruins, Dia LeFebvre, Jacqueline Lombard, Teresa Zaffarano, Samuel Gathje.
