The Decorah Area Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring its annual Ridiculous Day Saturday, July 19.
This longstanding retail tradition is an opportunity for shoppers to take advantage of great savings all over Decorah, according to Decorah Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Nikki Brevig.
Water Street will be closed from State to Mechanic streets beginning at 6 a.m. for retailers to put their merchandise on the street for sales beginning at 7 a.m. Bargains continue throughout the day at all participating retailers, not just those located on Water St.
“Although we sandwich Ridiculous Days in between the Fair and Nordic Fest, we recognize it is a great opportunity for people to take advantage of savings and retailers to turn over some of their merchandise before changing seasons,” said Brevig.
Shoppers can take advantage of summer closeouts and back-to-school specials. Streets will re-open by 6 p.m. when the sales are over. Shoppers are welcome to park in the North Alley area and various city parking lots in the downtown district. The visitor center in the Decorah Area Chamber of Commerce building will have a volunteer on staff to help answer questions from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
“It’s a busy weekend in Decorah with eagle watchers, Seed Savers annual meeting and general visitors around town. Ridiculous Days is just one more piece to round out a busy weekend. We look forward to welcoming everyone to our great community and thank everyone for their support,” Brevig added.
