The public is invited to attend an artist reception for Tom Sheppard Monday, March 17, at 7 p.m. Sheppard has exhibitions on view at Decorah Public Library and the Decorah Chamber of Commerce through April 3.

"First and 10," Tom Sheppard's first show with Driftless Art Collective 'plays' on the highly successful Decorah High School 'play list,' used by coaching staff and teams. These colorful works move with the 'in the moment' sense of game time.

Sheppard combines his interest of athletics and art to create works he hopes might engage the minds of athletics and arts enthusiasts, young and old.

Originally from Nebraska, via California and Iowa, Sheppard has been combining art and sport for many decades. He is a certified art educator and taught both in Iowa and Nebraska.  Recently retired from teaching, Sheppard has been exhibiting his work since 1969 Sheppard has works in several American collections including the Luther College collection. He currently resides in Decorah working in his home studio and continues to exhibit through the Midwest and beyond.

Please also visit the Decorah Chamber of Commerce on Water Street for another exhibition by Sheppard created in response to his experiences as a basketball coach.
