The number of people using the Trout Run Trail recently was impressive, according to Decorah City Manager Chad Bird.
During Monday night’s Decorah City Council meeting, Bird reported the Winneshiek County Conservation Board recently surveyed users and also took a head count.
Bird said Winneshiek County Conservation Board Director Barb Schroeder reported over a Friday/Saturday last month there were 1,600 cyclists who used the trail, 800 walkers or runners and 61 dogs.
“It’s exciting. They (County Conservation) are collecting some of that data on the trail. Solid economic impact comparisons can be drawn on those kinds of numbers,” Bird commented.
