Winneshiek Medical Center is holding an emergency preparedness exercise in downtown Decorah the afternoon/evening of Thursday, May 16.

The exercise will involve multiple emergency response teams, including fire, law enforcement and ambulance services. The exercise will test local response plans for large-scale emergencies.

Steve Vanden Brink, WMC ambulance services manager said, "Our intent is to use this exercise to ready ourselves and the community for a large scale incident. The planning team would also like to take the planned scenario to other Winneshiek County communities and provide some opportunities to help them plan for a similar event."

Agencies assisting Winneshiek Medical Center in this exercise include: Winneshiek County Public Health, Winneshiek County Emergency Management, Decorah Police Department, Decorah Fire Department and Winneshiek County EMS Association.
