WMC Chief Operating Officer Dave Jordahl announces retirement

Winneshiek Medical Center Chief Operating Officer Dave Jordahl is stepping down after six years with the Medical Center.
He plans to retire from his 30-year career in healthcare administration and his last day at WMC will be Friday, Nov. 16.
Jordahl joined WMC and Mayo Clinic Health System in 2006 as the chief operating officer. His leadership on the energy savings project resulted in almost $115,000 annual savings for the organization. Jordahl was also involved in the development of the occupational health services, hospitalist program, and urgent care, services that are critical in modern day healthcare and not always found in critical access hospitals.
Highlights from Jordahl's career in healthcare include:
o Served as executive director of Polinksy Medical Rehabilitation Center and was awarded "Outstanding Small Rehabilitation Facility Award"
o Served as vice president/administrator of Rapid City Regional Hospital, led a successful turnaround to profitability of Black Hills Rehabilitation Hospital within 18 months after losing money for four years, and managed a $10 million construction project
o Served as chief operating officer of Illini Health Services and led successful acquisition of eight physician practices, created the organization's first physician hospital organization with the medical staff, and facilitated the negotiations for joining Genesis Health System
o Served as president of St. Clare Hospital and Health Services, which received the Governors Award of Excellence of the Wisconsin Forward Award in 2000 and raised $1.25 million with volunteers for an emergency department project, led a $7 million remodeling of Emergency and Radiology areas, and led a $4 million surgery and same day construction project
o Served as Chief Executive Officer of Medical Associates of the Black Hills and built new infrastructure for the clinic, recruited and expanded providers, and added a dialysis service line.
o Joined Winneshiek Medical Center and Mayo Clinic Health System in 2006 as the chief operating officer and has had over six years of successful projects and leadership
