Winneshiek County Convention and Visitors Bureau is seeking volunteers to help represent the county at the Iowa State Fair, Aug. 8-18.
Each year the WCCVB represents "all things tourism" at the Winneshiek County tourism booth for the duration of the Iowa State Fair.
More than 40 volunteers staff the booth. The WCCVB is seeking additional volunteers to help represent Winneshiek County this year.
"Our booth will be located in the air conditioned Varied Industries Building, which attracts nearly one million fairgoers each year," said WCCVB Director Brenda Luzum.
"The fair is just one of the many ways our county tourism office entices new visitors to come to our area."
Luzum adds that volunteers must be familiar with Winneshiek County and have general knowledge of area businesses and attractions. Each shift requires two people and volunteers typically work with a spouse, friend, family member or co-worker. As an incentive, volunteers receive free tickets into the fair plus one night's free lodging.
Available shifts include: Fri., Aug. 9, from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.; Wednesday, Aug. 14, from 3 - 9 p.m.; Thursday, Aug. 15, from 3 - 9 p.m.; Friday, Aug.16, from 3 - 9 p.m.; and Sunday, Aug 18, from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Anyone interested in a volunteer shift should call Brenda Luzum at 563-382-2023 or e-mail email@example.com.
