The Decorah Police Department and Winneshiek County Sheriff's Department are participating in the National Weather Service statewide tornado drill between 10 and 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 27.
A test tornado watch will be issued from the NWS at 10 a.m. followed by a test tornado warning from the NWS at 10:20 a.m. The test will end by 10:30 a.m.
During the warning, the Decorah Police Department Communications Center will be activating and testing the outdoor warning sirens countywide. All sirens will be sounded for three to five minutes to test for functionality. Subsequent shorter tests may occur depending on any maintenance needs.
If there is severe weather Wednesday, the test will be postponed until the following day.
