The Decorah Police Department and the Winneshiek County Sheriff's Department are participating in a special traffic enforcement program (sTEP) prior to and during the Thanksgiving holiday.
Motorists will be encouraged through heightened traffic enforcement to use safer driving habits, reduce speed, and buckle up.
The goal is to change bad driving habits and to have zero traffic fatalities this year on Iowa roadways. In 2012 there were nine people killed on Iowa roadways during the Thanksgiving holiday.
