Connie Euans, South Winneshiek guidance counselor, is the 2013 Iowa High School Counselor of the Year.
Euans traveled to Des Moines Monday to receive her award at the Iowa School Counseling conference.
Euans has served as the South Winneshiek High School counselor for the past four years. Prior to that, she was the counselor at Postville for 12 years.
A 1990 graduate of Starmont High School, she earned her bachelors degree in elementary education from Upper Iowa University in 1993 and her master's degree in school counseling from Northwest Missouri State University in 1997.
"I have wanted to be a school counselor since high school. I truly love my job. I have the pleasure of working with fantastic students, parents, faculty and administration who make it easy to enjoy going to schoo. The best part of my job is helping students prepare for their next big step in life," she said.
Euans and her husband, Mike, have two sons: Jerret, a seventh grader at South Winn, and Kale, a sixth grader.
