Believe it or not, planning for Women's Weekend Out (WWO) is underway, according to Brenda Luzum, Winneshiek County CVB director and WWO coordinator.
This event is a favorite among ladies who love Decorah. Attendees from all over the Midwest look forward to this spring event each year as the perfect excuse for a girlfriend's getaway. Dates have been set for Friday and Saturday April 4-5.
Coordinated by the Winneshiek County Convention and Visitor's Bureau, WWO is designed to be hassle-free, full of options and above everything - fun. There is no weekend registration fee and everybody is welcome to attend.
Local business sponsors will offer guests a very busy, fun-filled weekend packed with shopping deals, cooking classes, in-store specials, giveaways, comedy show, style show brunch, wellness classes, purse and accessory parties, pampering appointments, arts and crafts shows and live music. This event is perfect for mother-daughter, sister or girlfriend's getaway, or perhaps a time for individuals to be pampered and enjoy quality alone time.
"The biggest complaint we receive each year from our guests is there's too much to do," said Luzum.
Last year nearly 350 women pre-registered for the event and hundreds more participated in all the weekend activities. Fifty-two percent of attendees were non-Decorah residents, 30 percent required an overnight stay and 56 percent were first-time event goers.
"The weekend is growing and people are coming from further distances to enjoy all that we offer," said Luzum. "Just a week or so after last year's event, people were already contacting our office wondering if new dates had been set for 2014."
