A record number of 18 Decorah High School students were selected as members or alternates of the 2013 All-State Music Festival ensembles.

Fifth-six Decorah High School musicians participated in the All State Music auditions Saturday, Oct. 26, at West Delaware High School in Manchester.

The students prepared difficult musical selections and then competed for spots in the All-State ensembles with students from East-central and Northeast Iowa, including the Dubuque and Cedar Rapids schools.

Band students chosen were: Clara Kittleson- flute, Maleah Garwood- euphonium, and Brenna Hermann- oboe (alternate). Orchestra students included Gabrielle Bruns-viola, Trevor Philllips-bass, Tim Winter-cello (alternate), and Katelyn Yee-cello (alternate).

Choir students selected were McKenzie Snyder-soprano, Aidan Spencer-Berg-soprano, Rita Guzman-alto, Carli Galligan-alto, Brad Suhr-tenor, TJ Misseldine-tenor, Blake Taylor-bass, Nick Vande Krol-bass, Adam Knight-bass, and Autumn DeLong-alto (alternate).

The following students were selected for a recall audition: Rachel Dougan-violin, Kaleb Michel-bass, Maria Mertzenich-alto, and Jada Vanden Brink-soprano.
