Calmar has a good chance of receiving a Community Development Block Grant for housing rehabilitation.

At last week's meeting of the Calmar City Council, Chelsea Welch of Upper Explorerland Regional Planning Commission explained a proposed grant would request a total of $231,000 for the rehabilitation of six homes and require a match of $1,500 per home, of which the Security State Bank has committed $500 per home.

She said Calmar "would have a good chance to be approved."

The Couuncil set a public hearing on the matter for Monday, Nov. 18, at 6 p.m. at the Calmar Fire Station.
